The Silent Sentinel
|
In their Fall/2002 Noiseletter, The Right to Quiet Society of Vancouver included an article about the progress our group, Ban the Cannons, is making, and the article also mentioned a new silent device that had been designed by a Lower Mainland resident to help deter birds.
The device is called the Silent Sentinel.
This device is a series of flags which are strung over a row of berries or other fruit, and the flags are designed to rotate and flap to scare away birds silently.
A Ministry of Agriculture person is quoted in the article as saying that the device shows much promise and will be tested in the upcoming season (2003). Hopefully this device will be successsful and can replace propane cannons and other noisemakers.
If you wish to know more about the device, please send us an e-mail, and we can direct you to the ministry staff member who reviewed the product.
